Krishna Reddy:
It is a pleasure discussing your work and life journey so far and your ideas of Happiness and Happy World. Let’s start by introducing yourself. Tell me about yourself.
Kavya Krishna Addepalli: Hi Krishna! First of all, I congratulate you for this wonderful initiative of “positive” e-magazine iDiya.org and I thank you for this amazing opportunity to share my thoughts on such an amazing platform. I am a Dental student and Blogger. My passion for health sciences made me a medical student but my mission to become healthy made me a blogger! After completing my Intermediate (12th class), I was diagnosed with a neurological problem that affected the motor control of my right hand. I used to have continuous tremors that made me unable to do anything. It cost me three years of studies. I was so depressed at one point of time.

But thanks to the incredible support of my family and friends, I have learnt to accept and make most of it. At the same time, I stumbled upon my 10th class textbook and reread a really beautiful lesson – ‘In the Celebration of Being Alive’ by Dr. Christiaan Barnard. There were these lines in that lesson – “You don’t become a better person because you are suffering; you become a better person because you have experienced suffering. We can’t appreciate light if we haven’t known darkness; nor can we appreciate warmth if we have never suffered cold. The business of living is in the celebration of being alive.” These lines had a really powerful impact on me. From that moment onwards, I have started to count my blessings and filled my mind with positive thoughts. I wasn’t able to write because of tremors but I could type in my thoughts on a mobile phone using my left hand. As my thoughts resonated with the people around, I felt that I should share my experiences with more people.

I have turned my childhood passion of writing into blogging and started the blog ‘Miss Sunshine‘. Blogging has been a therapeutic experience and also a great learning process for me. Not only have I been gradually coming out of illness, but also, it has filled my life with positivity and confidence that I could do something and achieve my dreams. I also design T-shirts as a hobby and I am a part-time “T-shirt” Entrepreneur at My Dream Store! My other passions include music, food, neuroscience and gender equality. Listening to TED talks and attending TEDx events have inspired me a lot. I attended TEDx Hyderabad in 2015 and it has changed my life for better. Besides I am also a volunteer blogger for TEDxHyderabad. Reading books, doing some creative stuff like crafts and sketching jewelry designs are my hobbies.
